Cowbells and Blocks

The cowbell is originally used in agricultural livestock farming with cows. In music it occurs both with drums and percussion instruments. They are made in different materials and sizes. It is held by hand or, with a suitable holder, mounted on a stand or drum kit. It is beaten with a wooden stick. Full tones are produced at the lower end. Accents and overtones are created at the top of the cowbell. Percussion blocks made of wood or other materials are blocks in which simple but concise tones are produced by striking with a stick or mallet.
