Hi-Hat Cymbals
The hi-hat cymbal consists of a pair of cymbals that are hit against each other with the help of the hi-hat stand by pressing the foot pedal. It offers a great musical scope; by striking the hi-hat with a stick while using the pedal. When closed, striking produces a fine sound, when half-open it produces a rougher ("rocky") sound, and when open it produces a loud sound similar to that of a crash cymbal. Striking the cymbals when they are open and closing immediately sounds particularly interesting because the sound is "cut off" in the process.
