Violin
The violin or fiddle is a string instrument belonging to the box-neck lute. Its four strings (g - d1 - a1 - e2) are mainly bowed with the hairs of a bow or struck with the hairs of the bow or plucked with the fingers (pizzicato). The violin plays a prominent role in the tradition of classical European music. In all epochs of music history since the violin appeared, important works have been written for it. In addition, "electric violin" can also refer to an acoustic violin whose tones are amplified electrically. Electric violins are mainly used outside of classical music in many genres, including rock or metal bands, jazz and fusion. An electric violin often has a special appearance that differs from that of a classic violin. Since the generation of the sound is no longer necessarily tied to the body of the instrument, it can be built artistically and in a variety of ways. For example, there are models in the shape of an “S”. On the other hand, other models look almost like acoustic violins, only with recesses on each side, so that the instrument appears very slim and powerful. Electric violins are mainly used as experimental instruments in contemporary music.
Cello
The cello or violin cello is one of the bowed instruments. The violoncello is bowed with a bow. In contrast to the violin, the cellist holds the instrument upright (with the neck up) between the legs. Today it usually stands on the floor with an extendable spike. The tones of the male voice (bass and tenor) are characteristic of the cello.
