Products of Sabian
Sabian was founded in Canada in late 1981, making it one of the younger representatives of cymbal forging. Founder Robert Zildjian, one of the sons of the head of the Avedis Zildjian Company, uses an acronym. The company name Sabian is made up of the first two letters of his three children Sally, Billy and Andy. Robert's brother Armand is still the head of the competing Zildjian Company.
Dissatisfied with the quality and sound of the cymbals available at the time, Robert Zildjian developed cymbals with new and modern sounds. Sabian does not only focus on the topicality and popularity of the cymbals - Sabian also serves individual tastes with the extensive range of cymbals.
Today, son Andy runs the company based in Meductic, New Brunswick. In total, Sabian offers more than ten different series, from the Solar series to the HH series and the Sabian XS20 series. Drummers like Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Terry Bozzio from Frank Zappa, Sal Abruscato from Life of Agony and Sola Akingbola all chose Sabian.
Only real with the Groove Cut!
The rings around the Sabian logo represent the "groove cut" cut into the cymbal surface unmistakably representing the manufacturer.
