Snare Drums

The snare drum, also known as the "small drum", is the clearest voice in the drum kit. For most rhythms it serves as the instrument part and provides the famous "backbeat". The distinctive sound is determined by the resonance sides, which are set in vibration by the impact. This snare carpet usually has spirals made of metal and is stretched under the drum head.
