Drumheads
The drum head is a covering on the boilers of the drums. Today this skin consists of a plastic material and is attached with a metal ring. The resonance head is located on the underside of the drum and, in contrast to the batter head, is extremely thin. The batter head sits on top of the drum and is hit with the stick. The drumhead should be changed regularly, as it loses its sound volume due to the beats of the baton. There is a big vary of drumheads; Single-ply drum heads offer a bright, open sound, double-ply drum heads offer a particularly powerful, darker sound (well suited for rock). Single-ply and coated (rough) skins are also popular. They are often used for jazz. Most snare drums come with coated heads.
