Digital pianos: Simply amazing - with sampled sounds

The digital piano, also known as the electric piano, is an electronic keyboard instrument that serves as an alternative to the traditional acoustic piano. The sound is generated purely electronically by pressing a button. The digital piano comes with numerous functions and advantages. Many models are already equipped with a high-quality weighted keyboard (also made of wood) to ensure a natural playing feel. The electronic piano does not need to be tuned, the sound always remains excellent. In addition, the volume can be adjusted or played entirely with headphones so that you can practice in peace. There are also several sounds or reverb properties to choose from, or what you play can be recorded for further editing or practice. Many positive properties to enjoy playing the piano in the living room or in the studio.

With the analog piano, the sound is created because the keys move hammers, which in turn hit the strings. On the keyboard, on the other hand, the keys only act as a kind of switch with which the different sounds can be switched on and off. In this regard, the digital piano once again combines the best of both worlds: The keys of digital pianos are connected with a hammer mechanism, so very similar to an analogue piano. As a result, the keys are weighted and the playing feel is practically 1:1 like the prototype. At the same time, the keys are connected to switches, just like on a keyboard. The hammer mechanism is only for the playing feel, while the sounds are generated digitally. The sounds themselves are based on samples of analog and very high-quality instruments. As a result, digital pianos sound almost analog, even to trained ears.

Buying a digital piano: The 3 top reasons

Due to their size and complexity, pianos are not among the cheapest instruments. Your purchase therefore needs to be carefully considered. If you are still undecided, you will now find three excellent reasons why a digital piano is the right choice:

With digital pianos you learn to play thanks to the weighted keyboard like on an analogue piano. This makes it much easier to play this instrument as well than starting with an (unweighted) keyboard.

The digital piano expands the musical possibilities enormously. This is not least attractive because it allows a wide variety of genres to be played and supported.

Digital pianos deliver the same sublime looks as their analogue relatives, but usually cost significantly less. They are also much more flexible, not least because of their lower weight.
