sE Electronics 2300 Large Diaphragm Studio Microphone
The sE2300 is the latest version of the popular studio microphone that has quickly earned sE Electronics a high reputation thanks to its outstanding sound characteristics. Its smooth yet present sound is ideal for vocal and speech recordings or miking instruments. The gold-coated large diaphragm capsule in "real" condenser technology is responsible for the balanced, nuanced sound. The combination of the handmade capsule, the proven electronics in class A circuitry and the output transformer specially made for the sE2300 ensure first-class sound quality and that "certain something". The carefully selected components and the revised electronics design deliberately dispense with integrated circuits (ICs).The switchable pre-attenuation filters enable a high dynamic range and guarantee clean processing of very high sound pressure levels. The switchable high-pass filter suppresses low-frequency noise and compensates for the proximity effect.High reliability, even in demanding stage use, is guaranteed by the robust metal construction and the high production standards. The sE2300 has a switch for selecting the pre-attenuation filter, the high-pass filter and the polar pattern.pre-attenuation filterThe pre-attenuation filter switch is located on the left side of the microphone. When activated, it attenuates the signal by 10 or 20 dB to enable recording of loud instruments or near-field microphones without distortion. This also prevents clipping of input stages of audio interfaces, mixers and microphone preamps.high pass filterThe high pass filter switch is located on the right side of the microphone. Wind noise, pop, footsteps or rumble may affect the recording signal. By operating the switch, such interference signals and the resulting distortions are reduced. In the left position the filter starts at 80Hz, in the right one at 160Hz. In addition, the high-pass filter reduces the bass increase that occurs when the miking distances are small due to the proximity effect.polar patternThe switch for selecting the polar pattern is located in the middle of the rear of the microphone. It enables a precise selection of the directional characteristic (figure-of-eight, cardioid or omnidirectional) and thus enables a wide range of possible applications.Scope of delivery: sE2300 microphoneMicrophone spider with thread adapterpop filtersTechnical specificationsCapsule 1" condenser capsulePolar pattern figure eight, cardioid, omnidirectionalTransmission range 20 - 20,000 HzSensitivity 24 mV/Pa (-32.5 dBV)Max. Dynamic microphones

Dynamic microphones use a voice coil to convert sound into voltage. Due to their low sensitivity, dynamic microphones are often used for loud sources. Common use cases for dynamic microphones: recording high sound pressure levels, positioning the microphone at close range; due to the weaker signal-to-noise performance, it is not important here.

Condenser microphones

A condenser microphone (usually) uses a diaphragm that is excited by the sound and vibrates accordingly. This sound is then converted into an electrical signal. A condenser microphone requires a power supply, the so-called 48V phantom power. This is available on most mixers or good interfaces to choose from. Condenser microphones are better suited for sources that are to be reproduced in great detail or that are further away due to their high sensitivity. Recordings made with a condenser microphone sound clearer compared to dynamic microphone recordings.

Vocal microphone

Advantages: condenser microphone
1. Condenser microphones offer a higher level of detail (especially in the higher frequencies).
2. The lightweight diaphragm of the condenser microphone has better transient response.
3. The condenser microphone's higher signal-to-noise ratio provides very clean and clear recordings.

Microphone recordings of voice for podcasts and more

Condenser and dynamic microphone
As with recording vocals, podcasts and voice-over recordings sound particularly impressive when you use a condenser microphone. The condenser microphone reproduces many details of your voice. Still, many broadcast studios, like radio stations, use dynamic microphones for their live sessions.
The main difference between the two microphones is the difference in sensitivity and level of detail in the high frequencies.

Microphone recordings for acoustic guitars

condenser microphone
> A condenser microphone picks up all the details of your instrument and leads to a natural sound and more authentic sound image.
> A dynamic microphone delivers less treble and affects the natural sound of the acoustic guitar (character).

Microphone for drum recordings

Advantage Dynamic Microphone
1. A dynamic microphone can easily handle high sound pressure levels.
2. Dynamic microphones have low sensitivity, and even the high SPLs result in signals that can be easily processed by the next device in your recording chain without distortion.

Microphone for electric guitar recordings

Dynamic microphone
Due to their transducer principle with a voice coil, dynamic microphones are fundamentally indifferent to high sound pressure levels. Due to the low sensitivity you have no problems with the distortion of the input of the preamp.
