The current generation Silent Brass "J" from Yamaha offers more playing pleasure anytime, anywhere.

The Silent Brass System consists of a lighter mute with almost natural blowing resistance and the Personal Studio STJ. These two components together reproduce the natural sound of the instrument, as if played without a damper.

The improved Personal Studio STJ now features new reverb and graduated reverb effects, player/spectator mode, USB connectivity, improved brass resonance modeling, and support from Yamaha's new Rac-n-Share APP. The new sound unit also enables a simple solution for online lessons via computer or smartphone connection.

The remarkably light and compact Silent Brass damper system reduces the sound in an impressive way. The intonation remains stable in all registers. The playing feel is excellent due to the optimal air flow and almost natural blowing resistance.

Specially designed mini microphone

In order to take full advantage of the optimized Brass Resonance Modeling technology, the performance and installation position of the microphone and the shape of the damper have been optimized.

Special feature:

The adjustable rod allows the position of the mute head within the bell to be raised or lowered while playing. This gives you the ability to customize the feel and intonation to fit your own instrument. In addition, this allows the mute to be used for a wide range of different bell sizes.

The current Silent Brass System consists of a smaller, lighter damper with almost natural blowing resistance and the Personal Studio (signal converter), which features Yamaha's exclusive Brass Resonance Modeling technology.

The innovative Brass Resonance Modeling technology takes playing with mutes to a whole new level, giving the player an authentic and natural feel. The sound is picked up by the microphone in the damper and transformed by Brass Resonance Modeling into the sound that normally comes out of the bell without a damper and transmitted to the player via headphones as if playing without a damper.

Connect your Personal Studio to an audio player or smartphone and let your favorite music accompany you.

Personal Studio's AUX IN mini-jack allows the player to connect an audio player or a smartphone, so you can also play with accompaniment. The PHONES jack can also be used as an output for recording.

Please do not connect anything to the AUX IN mini jack when using the Phones jack as an external output.
