The Paiste company was founded in 1945 by Michail M. Paiste in Germany. His father Michail Toomas Paiste has been successfully manufacturing cymbals and gongs since the 1920s and 1930s, but historical events force him to give up the business. In 1957 he founded a manufactory in Switzerland, where Paiste's headquarters are still located today. At this time, Michail's sons, Robert and Toomas Paiste, join the company, who later make the company headquarters in Nottwil in the canton of Lucerne the center of Paiste's international business. In 1981, Paiste America was founded as an overseas branch, followed in 1995 by others in Estonia and Spain.
