Man könnte den Blues als "Mutter" der populären Musik bezeichnen. Ohne ihn wären vielleicht viele Musikstile wie z. B. Jazz, Soul, Rock ’n’ Roll, Funk und Rock nicht entstanden oder würden zumindest nicht in der uns bekannten Form existieren. Die akustische Stahlsaitengitarre (Steelstring Guitar) ist eines der Hauptinstrumente im Blues, wie z. B. auch die Mundharmonika (Blues Harp) oder das Banjo. Dafür gab und gibt es praktische Gründe: Diese Instrumente waren transportabel und damit für die reisenden Musiker leicht mitzunehmen. Zudem waren sie zur damaligen Zeit nicht sehr teuer und damit auch für die arme schwarze Bevölkerung der USA erschwinglich.Spricht man vom Blues auf der akustischen Gitarre, ist damit meistens der Fingerstyle-Blues gemeint, der mit Daumen und Fingern gezupft wird (Picking).Auch in diesem Buch nimmt der Fingerstyle-Blues den größten Raum ein, dennoch habe ich ein extra Kapitel für den Blues mit Plektrum (Flatpick) reserviert. Außerdem gibt es zwei Kapitel, die sich mit dem Solo- und Melodiespiel beschäftigen. Dies ist sowohl mit Fingern als auch mit Plektrum machbar.Ein kleiner Ausblick auf das Spiel mit Bottleneck findet sich im letzten Kapitel.Nach einem kurzen historischen Ausflug zum Thema Blues beginnt direkt das praktische Spiel, beginnend mit elementaren Spieltechniken zur Unabhängigkeit von Daumen und Fingern.Die größtmögliche rhythmische und tonale Unabhängigkeit von Daumen und Fingern ist das allerwichtigste Fundament im Fingerstyle-Blues, daher erwähne ich diesen Punkt bereits jetzt im Vorwort. Zusammen mit den weiteren Bausteinen wie dem guten Gefühl für triolische Rhythmen, dem Beherrschen der bluestypischen Akkordformen und dem entsprechenden Tonmaterial sowie den verschiedenen Tonformungsmöglichkeiten (Slide, Hammer-on, Pull-off, Vibrato, Bending, Release Bending) entsteht schließlich das Haus des Blues.Alle Übungen und Songs findest du in Notenform und Tabulatur. Da der "Spirit" des Blues nicht wirklich auf dem Papier zu entdecken ist, liegt dem Buch eine CD bei. Sie enthält ALLE Übungen und Songs insgesamt 98 Tracks.
