Shapes of the drumsticks
Drops
The most common head shape, ensures a balanced tone that is constant in many playing angles, and with its large contact area it is also gentle on the heads, because the impact energy is evenly distributed
Oval
Wide mids, similar to teardrop shape
Bullet
for the slightly more special sound, small playing surface (compared to the teardrop shape) a focused, slightly less bass-stressed attack tone Impact energy is concentrated on a smaller point -> risk of dents in the fur, defined "ping" on ride cymbals
Barrel
Also very popular, the barrel shape combines the properties of teardrop and spherical shapes, sounds balanced and is gentle on the heads
Acorn
Full, fat sound, easy to play
Nylon
Nylon heads produce a bright and aggressive attack tone on ride cymbals, extremely defined response, clear, glassy sound, significantly increased durability, a good choice for e-drums
